We are helping to build awareness programs that support and promote the health and wellbeing of men, women and children through our work with various organisations.
Breast Cancer Institute of Australia
Each year, the Commonwealth Bank helps to produce the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia's Australian Women’s Health Diary. This diary contains health and finance tips for women and their families.
Since 1999, the diary has raised $4.1 million for breast cancer research. All monies raised from sales of the diaries go to the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia to support vital research.
Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia
Our support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia has helped develop Australia’s first tissue bank for research into this disease.
In 2008, the Commonwealth Bank will continue to support the awareness and promotion of men’s health issues through a series of men’s health promotion forums throughout Australia.
Movember Foundation
Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a month-long charity campaign that encourages the growth of a moustache to raise money and awareness of men’s health issues.
The Commonwealth Bank was proud to be a major sponsor of Movember in 2007. More than 1,100 of our people, including our CEO, Ralph Norris, participated to raise $217,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and BeyondBlue. The campaign had over 96,000 participants in Australia and raised more than $14 million dollars.
Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia
Since 2005, the Commonwealth Bank have helped raise awareness of childhood cancer through a comprehensive education and fundraising program in schools across Australia in conjunction with the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia.
