Ausmusic SA
Ausmusic SA is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing education, training and advice for those who want to get into the music industry. Ausmusic has received a Local Grant for the ‘Music Mentors in Schools Program’.  This initiative will place experienced musicians in five disadvantaged secondary schools across the state, to assist young performers, at no cost to the school or students. The musicians will work with students as tutors within their school, once a week for an eight week period on activities such as song writing, ensemble rock performance, music technology, production, multimedia, DJing and rapping.  

Camp Quality South Australia
Camp Quality is a not-for-profit organisation committed to bringing hope and happiness to children living with cancer, their families and communities through ongoing quality recreational, educational, hospital and financial support programs. Camp Quality has received a Local Grant to assist in funding the Residential Junior Camp that will take place September 2008. Junior camp is for children aged three to nine years and involves fun activities they would not normally experience at home.  As most of the kids are being treated for cancer, Junior Camp is designed to take their minds off their illness. 

North Haven Surf Life Saving Club
North Haven Surf Life Saving Club has received a Local Grant to buy more Malibu surfboards for volunteers in the under nine age group. At present, there is only one board available to these children and with their grant the club will be able to supply an addition of around 10 boards.

Northern Area Community & Youth Services Inc (NACYS)
NACYS offers a range of services to the community from crisis intervention to therapy. NACYS will use their Local Grant to maintain the wellbeing of children at risk by purchasing essentials such as nappies and special toys such as bikes. While these basic necessities will assist in relieving some of the financial burdens of their family, the children will also benefit by gaining access to a new bike.

Ranges Youth Centre Inc
Ranges Youth Centre Inc is a not-for-profit organisation catering for young people who find themselves homeless, at risk of homelessness and in crisis. Ranges Youth Centre operate a number of different programs to improve social networks and also increase the chances of their clients success with independent living. The centre has received a Local Grant for their ‘Independent Living Skills Program’, a ten step process that assists in the development of essential life skills required to successfully live independently.

SIDS and Kids
SIDS and Kids provides bereavement support to families whose babies or children die suddenly and unexpectedly from 20 weeks gestation up to 6 years of age. SIDS and Kids has received a Local Grant to fund a safe sleeping workshop for young parents in Mount Gambier. The project will provide an experienced educator in safe infant care practice, who will demonstrate safe ways to care for infants.

Southern Youth Theatre Ensemble
Southern Youth Theatre Ensemble (SYTE) is a not-for-profit youth theatre company that has been working with young people in Adelaide’s southern suburbs for over 20 years. SYTE will use their Local Grant to fund student attendance to the 16th World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Young People, which is run by the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ). Attendance at this festival will give students the opportunity to participate in professional workshops and witness the finest performing artists working with young people in the world.
