When a devastating earthquake hit the Sichuan region in China, Red Cross was on the ground to assist the Chinese government in their response. Since then, more than 35,000 Chinese Red Cross staff and volunteers and 87 rescue and medical teams have been working around the clock to help survivors in the earthquake-affected areas.
Following extensive destruction, it is estimated that local communities will need to stay in temporary shelter for up to one year in some of the hardest hit areas. Your support can help the Red Cross deliver emergency relief and assist in its plan to set up a field hospital and temporary schools, which could last for six to 12 months. This will serve the needs of the local community until more permanent structures are built.
Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone Appeal 2008

More than 500 tons of Red Cross aid has reached Myanmar, with more needed to help hundreds of thousands of people who have lost their families and their livelihoods, and seen their local economies devastated. Your donation to the Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone Appeal 2008 will help provide emergency shelter, access to clean water and provide specialist aid workers to train more than 27,000 local Red Cross volunteers who are working around the clock to deliver aid to those who need it.

We are proud to support Red Cross during times of natural disaster, by making our branch and call centre teams available to process donations so that funds can quickly go where they are needed.
Our support has helped Red Cross to assist thousands of people in desperate need, from the tsunami in South-East Asia in 2004 to Cyclone Larry in 2006.
